Molecules used in the oral pharmacological treatment of erectile dysfunction, pharmacodynamically capable of increasing the levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) inside the smooth cavernous penile muscle cells by inhibiting the enzyme responsible for its degradation (phosphodiesterase of type 5 - PDE5).
