Uro-andrological glossary

Stage of the development process of the organism in which there are important body modifications that determine the transition to adulthood. The main changes concern the development of the genitals (primary sexual characteristics) and the whole organism such as the distribution of hair, the change in the tone of the voice in man (secondary sexual characteristics). It is associated with psycho-behavioral transformations and the development of adult sexuality. The trigger of puberty is determined by neurogenic and endocrine factors, in particular by the maturation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal system.
